Suspects Sought In Marshall-Shadeland Double Shooting

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- One man is dead and another ended up in the hospital after a double shooting Friday afternoon in the city's Marshall-Shadeland neighborhood.

It happened just after 12:45 p.m. in the 2300-block of Atmore Street.

According to Pittsburgh Public Safety officials, the two victims were in a gray vehicle when the suspects approached from the Marshall Avenue area.

Multiple shots rang out and the victims were wounded, and then police say the suspects ran away, heading toward Halsey Place.

The victims have not been identified, but police say both are in their 20s.

Pittsburgh Police Public Safety officer Emily Schaffer said upon arrival, officers found one victim in the street with a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported by paramedics in critical condition to Allegheny General Hospital, where he later died at 8:11 p.m.

Another victim was transported to AGH by private means.

Two vehicles were riddled with bullets at the scene. One was the gray car the victims were in and the other was a gold sedan.

Pittsburgh Police are investigating.

Neighbors were glad no children were in the playground about 20 feet from where the shootings happened.

"It's a good thing nobody was around, that's amazing," neighbor Joe Kossarth said. "I mean, there's shootings every few days down here, it seems."

"I'm very worried because I've got grandkids that play around here, so I'm very worried," a neighbor who wished to remain anonymous said. "The police need to do their jobs and do what they need to do."

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact the Pittsburgh Police Violent Crime Unit at 412-323-7161.
