Pittsburgh Peace Summit Hopes To Improve Police, Community Relations

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A peace summit is being held today to focus on ways to improve relations between police and the community.

Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto is meeting privately with elected officials, ministers, African-American leaders and members of law enforcement.

"It will be an opportunity first internally to work with the community, and then once we have that, then starting to put together the agenda that will bring other stakeholders on board, our corporate community, our faith-based leaders," Peduto said. "Starting to address some underlying issues that we haven't addressed in the past and start working together to solve them."

The mayor's office won't disclose a time and place for the meeting and it is closed to the public.
