Hollywood Lanes Celebrates 90 Years With 1920s-Style Party

DORMONT (KDKA) – Hollywood Lanes has been a Dormont staple for decades. But, they are celebrating a big milestone this year.

To celebrate their 90th year in business, owner Jeff Clement held a 1920s throwback party. The event featured karaoke, cake and of course, bowling.

Clement said he's proud to offer a place for the family to gather and share an old time tradition.

"To keep something nostalgic and a big part of the community and place for kids and families to go," Clement said.

One special guest that attended the bowling alley's birthday party is Derek. He battled leukemia last year and beat it with some help from Hollywood Lanes.

"We threw an event last year for him to help build his spirits up a little bit," Clement said.

The historic landmark initially opened in 1926, but it was almost turned into other businesses three years ago. That's when Clement decided he would bite the bullet and buy and restore it instead.

"We used to go to the Hong Kong restaurant and then we would come in and bowl here. Who knew one day that I would own the place?" he said. "The most important was the people that this place has brought. Man, it's just brought the most amazing people in the world."
