Police, Friend Coax Dog Off Roof Of New Castle Home

NEW CASTLE (KDKA) -- Police were called to a home in New Castle Wednesday afternoon after neighbors spotted a dog sitting on a roof.

The 12-year-old German Shepherd and greyhound mix named Abraham was seen sitting on the roof of a porch of a home on Fern Street.

Neighbors frantically called 911 saying they were afraid the dog was going to jump.

The homeowner was at work and couldn't get home at the time. But, he was able to call a friend to the scene to help get Abraham down.

When she arrived, Abraham became excited and appeared like he wanted to jump off the roof to greet her.

Police yelled at the dog, telling him not to jump, while the woman went inside.

She was able to get to a second story window and get Abraham's attention, so he could jump back through the window.

Neighbors who had gathered around to watch cheered and applauded as the dog jumped back inside.
