Child, 4, Dies After Being Left In Car In Williamsport

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (AP) - Authorities in central Pennsylvania say a 4-year-old child died after being left in a car for several hours in downtown Williamsport.

Police dispatched to the scene at about 3:30 p.m. Friday reported that upon the arrival of emergency personnel, the child was removed and first aid was administered.

The child, whose identity and gender weren't released, was rushed to Williamsport Regional Medical Center but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The National Weather Service said a high of 97 degrees was recorded in the city just after 4 p.m. Friday.

Lycoming County authorities said an autopsy was scheduled at Lehigh Valley Medical Center in Allentown.
