Beaver County Couple Found Dead, Police Investigating As Murder-Suicide

DARLINGTON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – Police are investigating after a couple was found dead in an apparent murder-suicide in their Beaver County home.

Investigators were called to the couple's ranch-style home in the quiet, rural area of the 100-block of County Line Road in New Galilee Borough just after 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Sonya and Duane Myers were both 45-years-old, and their pictures on social media show moments of happiness and togetherness. But, on Tuesday, the couple was found dead in their basement.

"Sonya died of two contact gunshot wounds, one to the chest and one to the back," said Beaver County District Attorney David Lozier. "The husband died of a single gunshot wound to the head."

The couple leaves behind three children of high school and college age who will now have to carry the burden of loss.

"They're emotional for their family, distraught," said Lozier. "Everyone tries to find an excuse or a reason to blame. There's never any. You can't comprehend it."

The Myers were part of a family business called Harry's Place, a restaurant located near their home.

Regular customers at the restaurant are devastated.

"It affects everyone in the family. It affects all their friends," Lozier said. "In this case, potentially business co-workers. It leaves a massive hole."

Investigators say they believe Duane shot his wife before turning the gun on himself.

"Gunshot residue confirmed that the husband, Duane Myers, was the one who fired the pistol," Lozier said.

The Myers family is well known and liked in the Darlington area. So far, friends and family are too distraught to talk publicly.
