Chef Carl Congelo's Kitchen Shortcuts For 3 Traditional Meals

Chef Carl Congelo stopped by PTL to show off some shortcuts in the kitchen for some traditional meals!

Watch Part 1:

Iceberg Lettuce And Creamy Blue Cheese Dressing

  • 1 head iceberg lettuce
  • 1 15 oz. size jar of Marzetti blue cheese dressing(found in refrigerator section of produce)
  • 1 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • 20 cherry tomatoes cut in half
  • 12 strips of bacon cooked and lightly chopped

Directions:

Divide iceberg in 4 wedges

Place ¼ of jar dressing on each salad

Place ¼ of chunky blue cheese on each salad

Place 10 half's of tomato on each salad

Place ¼ of bacon on each salad

Turkey And Ham BBQ Sour Dough Melt

Serves 2

  • 4 slices crusty sour dough bread (breadworks makes a great loaf)
    ½ inch thick
  • 3 T butter melted
  • ½ pound sliced turkey breast
  • ½ pound sliced ham
  • 1 18 oz. jar Stubs original or sweet heat bbq sauce
  • 3 T honey
  • 2 T Franks hot sauce or your favorite
  • 4 slices of smoked cheddar cheese(thin slice)

Directions:

BBQ sauce , honey and hot sauce in small pot. Heat to a simmer.

Place turkey and ham in pot and let heat through (low heat)

Butter 4 slices of bread on one side each.

Using grill pan (pre heat)

Toast and grill mark bread on buttered side.

Place ½ of turkey and ham mixture on each sandwich, with sauce (how much sauce is up to you) toasted side down

Now place 2 slices of cheese on each (heat of meat will melt the cheese)

And place the remaining slice of toasted bread (toasted side up) on top.

Cut in half or quarter. Serve hot.

Homemade Sweet And Spicy Sweet Potato Chips

  • 3 T olive oil
  • 3 T granulated sugar
  • ¼ t cayenne
  • ¼ t cumin
  • 3 large sweet potatoes _cut ¼ inch slices (as thin as you can without breaking)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

Oven to 450

Stir all ingredients together

Place sweet potato slices on baking sheet (spray sheet well before )

Brush each slice with mixture

Bake in pre heated oven for 8 minutes and turn each slice and brush again. Bake another 7 or 8 minutes or until tender and crispy.
