Suspect In Custody After Police Targeted In Central Pennsylvania

COLUMBIA, Pa. (AP) - Police in a central Pennsylvania borough say a suspect is in custody and another person is being questioned as a person of interest after shots were fired - some at police.

Nobody was injured by the gunfire reported about 3:30 a.m. Friday in Columbia. That's about 30 miles southeast of Harrisburg.

Witnesses tell police at least one person was shooting a gun and moving around, but police didn't know if that person was in a car or on foot.

Columbia Detective Matthew Leddy says police were targeted, but investigators haven't said how many shots were fired, how many were directed at police, or how many officers were jeopardized.

Police say they don't have a motive for the gunfire.

Residents who had been told to remain inside are free to leave.
