Allentown Shooting Leaves 1 Man Dead

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A man was shot and killed late Monday night in Pittsburgh's Allentown section.

Police were called to a home in the 1500 block of Arlington Avenue around 11:50 p.m. for reports of a man being shot.

When they arrived at the scene, they found a 20-year-old Hispanic man inside his home with a gunshot wound to his face.

"The shooting actually occurred outside, and the male went back inside of his residence where he had a female friend," Pittsburgh Public Safety Spokeswoman Sonya Toler said.

Christopher Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Just before midnight, we were getting ready to go to bed and I heard pop, pop, pop and I knew it wasn't a firecracker, so it didn't take but less than a minute for the cops to show up," Brian Fallet, a neighbor, said. "I've been up here 22 years and there's never been an issue up here at all, that I know of.

Police say Rodriguez was shot outside the home by a "yet to be identified male."

The Violent Crime Unit is investigating.

The Medical Examiner's Office will perform an autopsy on Tuesday.
