Thousands Expected To Attend 57th Annual McKeesport International Village

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - It is a food festival like no other and features flavors from all around the world.

The 57th Annual McKeesport International Village is giving people a chance to experience other cultures' food and traditions.

"It's just that true tradition that's just been going on and it's the event people look forward to each and every year," Mayor Michael Cherepko said.

The three-day festival is one of the oldest and largest ethnic events in the Pittsburgh area.

The food takes center stage. Walking from booth to booth, you can find a variety of unique dishes.

"Many of the food booths are run by churches and organizations that really depend on this fundraising event to really help them with some of the costs they have throughout the year," Cherepko said.

While there is plenty to tempt your taste buds, you can also find music, dancing, traditional clothing and crafts from nearly two dozen nationalities and cultures.

This year, nine vendors from Pennsylvania and Ohio set up shop in the ethnic marketplace.

Plus, there are even activities for the kids.

The rain did keep some people away on opening night, but the festival typically draws about 20,000 people every year.

The festival is open from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Renzie Park.
