93.7 The Fan High School Football Preview 2016 Class 3A: Beaver

Beaver
Beaver Valley Conference

If Beaver is going to do get to the promised land of Heinz Field this year, a Wise man will most likely lead them there.

That would be senior quarterback Darius Wise, of course, who is one of the most exciting and dynamic playmakers in the WPIAL.

Wise, who is 5-foot-11, 170 pounds, plays quarterback for the Bobcats but is getting recruited as a receiver and has offers from BYU, West Virginia and Syracuse.

He led all WPIAL quarterbacks in rushing (1,522 yards) and averaged 10.6 yards per carry and scored 29 touchdowns but he isn't just a runner as he also threw for 1,145 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Last season he led the Bobcats to an 8-3 record and the WPIAL quarterfinals and this year they appear poised to take the next step as he is surrounded by eight other returning offensive starters.

Beaver has four offensive line starters – tackles Lou Charlier and Bruce Ramer, center Nick Lampadarios and guard John Adams – and all three starting receivers – Landon Pontoli, Micah Weaver and Christian Hyrb – returning as well.

The defense is also loaded, though, as seven starter return including linebackers Dante Anzevino and defensive tackle Karter Wallace.

The pieces are in place for the Bobcats to do great things this year but the Beaver Valley Conference appears to be a meat grinder as they will have to battle Aliquippa, Beaver Falls and Central Valley for the title.
