Brother Of Missing Penn Hills Twins Charged With Lying To Police
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – More charges have been filed in the case of twins who have been missing for over a decade.
The twins, who are now believed to be 17 years old, were last seen 13-14 years ago. The twins have been identified as Ivon and Inisha Fowler.
Now, 18-year-old Datwon Fowler is facing charges for allegedly lying to police when he pretended to be his missing brother.
The investigation into the missing fraternal twins began after police removed four children from Patricia Fowler's Penn Hills home in June. It came at the request of the Allegheny County Office of Children, Youth and Families.
Later, police were told there should have been six children living with Fowler, not four.
"Ten years, it's almost like a cold case investigation if you will and we're not getting information from the person who would have it," Penn Hills Police Chief Howard Burton said.
When quizzed by detectives about their whereabouts, Fowler gave conflicting answers.
"We followed every lead she gave us, every piece of information she gave us. It all turned out to be fictitious," Chief Burton said.
According to investigators, she said she sold them for $2,000 each, but then later changed her story when told that if she had sold the kids, she would be charged criminally.
Police say she explained the twins were living with a high school friend. Then, she said, they were living with an aunt out-of-state.
Police have been unable to verify any of the stories.
During their investigation, Penn Hills Police received a Facebook message from someone named Ivon Fowler, who left a contact number.
Calls went to voice mail, but police communicated with the individual via text message. The person said they were in Atlanta, but police traced the phone to a Penn Hills homes and arrested Datwon Fowler.
He said he lied to police to stop the investigation and to make sure his family would be left alone.
Fowler is currently being held at the Allegheny County Jail.
Meanwhile, Patricia faces her first day in court next week.
