Woman, Boyfriend Charged With Beating, Starving Mother

CONNELLSVILLE (KDKA) -- A Connellsville woman and her boyfriend are facing charges, accused in the death of her 63-year-old mother.

According to the Tribune-Review, 63-year-old Sally Nelson was beaten with a table leg, suffered blunt-force trauma to the head and body and was malnourished.

Her daughter, 33-year-old Lisa Nelson and 34-year-old Peter Lee Shoemaker Jr., have been charged with criminal homicide and conspiracy to commit homicide, aggravated and simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person.

The couple allegedly caused the death of Sally Nelson who lived on Prospect Street in Fayette County. She reportedly sustained a head injury in Oct. 19, 2015 but was not taken to the hospital until the next day. She died on Nov. 11.

The 63-year-old woman had wounds all over her body and signs of blows to the head, neck and ribs. She also showed signs of chronic severe malnourishment and a head lice infestation.

Lisa Nelson reportedly admitted to hitting her mother and said Shoemaker was abusive to the woman.

The two remain in the Fayette County Prison.
