2 Young Adults Killed In North Union Twp. Crash

FAYETTE COUNTY (KDKA) — A 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old man died in a car crash that took place in North Union Township on Saturday night.

The crash happened around 10:30 p.m. on Connellsville Street near Brushwood Road.

State police say 19-year-old Derek Kemp, of West Leisenring, was driving southbound on Connellsville Street at a high rate of speed. Twenty-year-old Robert A. Walker III, of Uniontown, was a passenger in his car. Another vehicle was approaching their car in the opposite lane.

According to state police, Kemp overcompensated while going around a curve and crossed the center line, entering the opposite lane. The other vehicle swerved in an attempt to avoid being hit, but Kemp struck the vehicle head on.

Kemp and Walker both suffered fatal injuries. According to state police, neither was wearing a seat belt.

A 24-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man were in the other vehicle. State police say both suffered serious injuries. They were flown to a local hospital.

Again. More senseless deaths, because people don’t obey the law & wear a dam* seat belt! Two young lives END…because of “terminal stupidity.” You can’t fix stupid! Still..I AM sorry they are dead.
In 30+ years in law enforcement..I never cut a seat belt off a dead person. All you “invincible” people (both young & old,) might want to research the advantages of wearing one, even if you don’t want to obey the law!
