Dean, Legal Scholar To Be Installed As Duquesne University President

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Law school dean and legal scholar Ken Gormley is set to take the helm as president of Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.

The 61-year-old lawyer and professor will be installed Thursday as the 13th president of the 137-year-old private, Catholic school.

Gormley was hired as a law professor at Duquesne in 1994 after first teaching at the University of Pittsburgh and practicing privately. He's been dean of the law school since 2010.

Gormley is an expert on the Watergate scandal and its legal ramifications, including a biography of special prosecutor Archibald Cox, as well as the U.S. Supreme Court. His latest book, "The Presidents and the Constitution: A Living History," was published this year by NYU Press.

He replaces Charles Dougherty, who retired after 15 years as president.
