Police: Suspect Used Brass Knuckles With Knife In Downtown Stabbing Attack

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Three people were wounded in a stabbing attack in Downtown Pittsburgh late Thursday night, and now police are looking for two suspects.

It happened in 400 block of Wood Street, across from the new PNC Tower, around 11:20 p.m.

According to Pittsburgh Police, it all started as an argument between two women inside of a 7-Eleven convenience store and spilled outside onto the sidewalk.

The two women, who police say knew one another, were yelling at each other and then the suspect took a swing at the victim. A man, who was with the female suspect, then punched the female victim in the face.

Police say two men tried to intervene and were both wounded in the process.

A 27-year-old man started fighting the male suspect, who police say pulled out a pair of brass knuckles with a knife attached.

The 29-year-old female victim was stabbed in the chest, near her shoulder. The 27-year-old male victim was slashed under his left eye and was stabbed in the hand.

The third victim, a 32-year-old man who also tried to intervene in the fight, was stabbed in the back and slashed on the left side of his face.

All three victims were taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital in stable condition.

The male suspect is described as being white, between 28 and 35 years of age, about 6-feet tall and weighs 175 pounds. He has dirty blond hair with short braids and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and jeans.

The owner of Mamma Lucia's pizza shop, which is just steps away from where the stabbing happened, has been in that location for 41 years.

"Before, they used to punch each other. Now, it's guns and knives," Behrooz Rahimzadeh, the business owner, said. "They try and clean this place up, especially at night there's police screaming at everybody, 'Don't stop here, move along.' Saturday is the same way."

Pittsburgh Police are in the process now of reviewing surveillance footage that captured the incident. There are several businesses in the area that have cameras.
