Investigation Launched After Cat Shot With Arrow In Washington Co.

CALIFORNIA (KDKA) – Veterinarians are working to save the life of a cat after it was shot with an arrow.

Dr. Dimitri Brown, of University Veterinary Specialists, says it appears someone shot the animal intentionally.

“My understanding, the tip on the arrow is used for practice, not hunting,” said Dr. Brown. “In order to get this amount of penetration, it would have to be done at pretty close range, so it makes it seem that this was an intentional act.”

The cat was brought into University Veterinary Specialists in McMurray for treatment. She was awake and purring, but immediately sedated and prepared for surgery.

The young feline had the arrow pierce her abdomen.

Police in California say a man coming out of his house to get the paper noticed the cat in his yard and called Animal Control just after 8 a.m. Tuesday.

During surgery, a portion of the cat’s large bowel had to be removed. She will be under 24 hour watch for the next five days until she is out of the woods.

As soon as she is well enough, she will be up for adoption.

Meantime, California Police are investigating.

Call Dr. Dimitri Brown, of University Veterinary Specialists @ (724) 717-2273 The cat “might” be available for adoption (if the real owner doesn’t respond to the news.) Good Luck to you. And IF she’s not available..go to a pet shelter & adopt ANY cat there..that would love to be welcomed into your home,
FYI-I’m still a certified CFA cat judge. Did it for stress relief while a Deputy in Florida for 30+ years. Best to you in your quest. (Deputy Dave)
