Dozens Want To Adopt Dog Caught On Camera Escaping Animal Shelter

APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (KDKA) — Security cameras at a California animal shelter captured a smart German Shepherd making a clever escape, and now people want to welcome her into their family.

“Everybody believes she was trying to make her way back to her old owner because she was found close to where her old home was,” Apple Valley Animal Shelter manager Gina Whiteside told CBS Los Angeles.

Ginger busted out only a few hours after her former owner dropped her off because she could no longer take care of her.

The 2-year-old climbed on top of her kennel, opened three doors to escape. She left teeth marks on a door handle.

“As she was coming out he door, what we saw is this quick little glance back at the shelter saying: ‘See ya!’ ” Whiteside said.

The shelter’s motion detectors were set off and the dog was brought back.

The stunt certainly left a lot of people impressed with Ginger. 40 people have turned in applications to adopt her.
