1 Man Injured In Garfield Shooting, 2 Suspects Sought

GARFIELD (KDKA) – Police are looking for two suspects after a shooting left a man injured in Garfield Monday evening.

According to police, the incident happened in the 5100 block of Dearborn Street around 7:20 p.m.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 29-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the ankle.

The victim told police he was texting on his phone when shots were fired from an oncoming vehicle.

After the shots were fired, the vehicle was involved in an accident at the intersection of Dearborn Street and North Evaline Street. As a result of the crash, the suspects' vehicle spun and crashed into a dumpster.

Two African-American males were able to get out of the vehicle and flee the scene on foot.

One was described as wearing a burgundy, hooded sweatshirt. The other was wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt.

"You hear the firing, the shooting and everything and then the next thing you know, there was 1,001 police cars all around and they [were] looking for the drivers," a neighbor said.

At one point, the neighbor opened the door and was quickly warned by police.

"They [were] all up in the alleys here and they [were] all around looking for them because I opened up my door and they told me to close my door," he said.

The victim was taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital and was last listed in stable condition.
