Man Accused Of Punching Pregnant Ex-Girlfriend In Stomach

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- It was just after 9 p.m. Sept. 21 when police were called to a now boarded-up home on Ipswich Court in East liberty.

A 10-year-old boy had called 911 after hearing his mother's screams.

The victim told police 40-year-old Lavaughn Gray, an ex-boyfriend and the father of two of her children had broken into her home by crawling through a window.

She said Gray began hitting her about the head and face, pulling her hair and punching her in the stomach. At the time, she was nine weeks pregnant.

As Gray left the house, the victim said he kicked a bouncy chair that her six-month-old child was sitting in.

She told police when she told Gray what he did, he allegedly said "It was in my way."

The victim is still pregnant but said she often has cramping in her stomach, headaches and leg pain.

Gray faces charges of assault of an unborn child and burglary. A judge dropped the endangering the welfare of a child charge.
