Police Investigating Report Of Body Being Found In Rankin

RANKIN (KDKA) – The Rankin police chief was seen praying with family and friends after they learned the devastating news. Richard McClinton Jr., 26, was found dead on the other side of the trees early Monday morning.

"Very kind, loving, got three little ones," close friend Jada Lee said.

Jada Lee says McClinton was like a cousin to her.

"I don't know what went wrong. What could've went wrong. What happened but keep his family and loved ones in his prayers," Lee said.

Police say a woman was walking along the trail that's near the railroad tracks when she spotted McClinton's body near Hawkins Village. She then called police.

"At the top of the hill, we had a male shot sometime overnight. We believe around 2 or 3 in the morning," Allegheny County Police Assistant Superintendent Jim Morton said.

Some folks say they heard multiple gunshots in the middle of the night. Lisa Haughton didn't hear the shots. Her daughter lives in Hawkins Village. Haughton says she's fed up.

"I feel sympathy for this community because it could've been anybody's child," Lisa Haughton said. "The community has really got to get together and start talking about the situation up here and stop being scared."

Police are viewing surveillance cameras that surround the building and are working with Rankin police and the housing authority to try and solve this crime.
