Murray, Penguins Agree To Terms On 3-Year Extension

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Matt Murray has signed a three-year extension with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

According to the team's official website, the deal starts in the 2017-18 season and runs through the 2019-20 season.

It also carries an annual salary cap hit of $3.75 million.

The extension comes after Murray helped the Penguins win their fourth Stanley Cup title this year.

He finished the playoffs with a 15-6 record to go along with a 2.08 GAA and a .923 save percentage.

Murray has yet to make his season debut after suffering a broken hand during the World Cup. However, head coach Mike Sullivan said the young goaltender should rejoin the team's practices starting on Thursday.

The Penguins will be back in action tonight as they host the San Jose Sharks in a Stanley Cup Final rematch.
