Pitt, City Police Investigating Report Of Sexual Assault

OAKLAND (KDKA) -- University of Pittsburgh and city police are investigating a report of a sexual assault that occurred early Sunday morning.

It happened between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. in the 300-block of Semple Street. University of Pittsburgh Police initially posted some details of the assault on its  Facebook page.

Police responded to the scene for a report that a 20-year-old female victim had been sexually assaulted. The suspect is described as a black man, approximately 5-feet-8-inches tall with full sleeve tattoos.

Lisa Washington's Report:

Students were shocked and on edge when told of the alleged incident.

"It's disturbing to hear that first of all, because it is a sexual assault," one student said.

"That's surprising that something would happen with such a heavy police presence," said Lauren Aiken.

Some said the report was a wake up call.

"I talked to my roommate about it and I said: I forget that we have to be more careful," one female student said.

Anyone with any information regarding this incident should call University of Pittsburgh police at 412-624-2121 or call 911.
