Poll: Clinton's Lead Shrinking In Pennsylvania Just Days Before Election

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A new poll shows Hillary Clinton's lead is shrinking in Pennsylvania just days before the election.

The Monmouth University poll finds Clinton leading Donald Trump by just 4 points, that is smaller than her lead one month ago.

Clinton's lead has slipped from a 10 point lead in October.

Among likely voters 48 percent currently support Clinton and 44 percent back Trump.

Another 3 percent intend to vote for Libertarian Gary Johnson and 1 percent back Jill Stein of the Green Party.

Just one month ago Clinton led Trump 50 percent to 40 percent in the Monmouth University poll.

A poll released Tuesday by Franklin & Marshall college showed Clinton also up by 10 points.

"Clinton is still in the lead, but the race has tightened in the past four weeks. It looks like this shift was in the works even before Friday's FBI bombshell, which has made only a small contribution to this overall narrowing," said Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute in a press release.

Monmouth says the poll was conducted after news broke about the FBI investigation of new emails during Clinton's tenure as Secretary of State.

They say only 4 percent of Pennsylvania voters say this news caused them to change their minds about which candidate they would support.

The vast majority (89 percent) say these latest developments have had no impact on their vote and 6 percent are unaware of the news.

Polls show Clinton continues to do very well in the southeastern corner of the state.

She leads Trump by a 62 percent to 29 percent margin in the seven congressional districts that encompass the city of Philadelphia and its adjacent suburbs.

In the U.S. Senate race, the poll shows Katie McGinty now leads GOP incumbent Pat Toomey by 47 percent to 44 percent, with another 3 percent of Keystone State voters supporting Libertarian Edward Clifford.

The race was tied at 46 percent for each major party nominee last month, while McGinty had a 45 percent to 41 percent lead in August.
