Teenage Girl Fatally Shot Inside Arnold Home

ARNOLD (KDKA) -- Police are investigating after a teenage girl was fatally shot in the chest Monday at a home in Westmoreland County.

The incident happened around 5 p.m. in the 1400 block of Orchard Avenue in Arnold. The home reportedly belonged to the parents of the girl's boyfriend.

The 16-year-old victim was in the basement when she was wounded. Crime scene detectives spent several hours inside taking photos.

According to witnesses, the victim was conscious and talking when paramedics rushed her to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. However, while undergoing surgery, she died from her injuries.

The girl has been identified as Akira Waters.

The police chief says the girl and her 19-year-old boyfriend were the only people home at the time of the shooting. He was taken to the police department for questioning. However, no charges have been filed in the case.

Police have filed homicide charges against Cashaan Williams, 17, of Arnold. Williams has not been taken into custody at this time.

Westmoreland County detectives and Arnold Police are investigating.

They were trying to locate the weapon used in the shooting.
