Crews rushed to reach the 32-year-old man from Texas and paramedics treated him inside the tower.

"He was conscious and alert. We got medics up there and they were administering IVs to him," said Aspinwall Fire Chief Gene Marsico.

"This was the first time that we've had to deal with an issue like this and a lot of it was training and a lot of knowing what assistance was available," said O'Hara Township Fire Chief George McBirar.

After he was rescued from the tower by being lowered down a chute, he was be transported to a local hospital with injuries to the back, arm and head.

There was no water inside at this time of the incident. OSHA is investigating.
