People Wearing Purple For World Pancreatic Cancer Day

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) --- Purple is the preferred color on World Pancreatic Cancer Day.

According to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, pancreatic cancer recently moved from the fourth to the third leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States, and it is anticipated to become the second leading cause around 2020.

The goal for advocates today and throughout the month is to raise awareness of pancreatic cancer. Symptoms are notoriously difficult to pinpoint. They include pain (usually in the abdomen or back), weight loss, itching with jaundice (yellowing of the skin and/or eyes), loss of appetite, nausea and change in stool.
