Man Assaults Woman, Flees From Police While Under The Influence

ARMSTRONG COUNTY (KDKA) -- Police arrested a man after he hit a woman in the head and then fled from police in Rural Valley Borough on Thursday night.

The incident happened just after 9 p.m. Thursday around Main Street and SR-85.

According to state police, 34-year-old Cassie Buzzard, of Rural Valley, was arguing with a woman he knew when he struck her in the head, causing her to bleed. The victim was taken to Armstrong Hospital to be treated for a minor injury.

Police say a trooper located Buzzard on SR-85, but he fled in the victim's vehicle. Buzzard led the trooper on a chase until he lost control of the vehicle and went into a ditch.

Buzzard was apprehended and found to be under the influence of alcohol and controlled substances.

He is awaiting arraignment on multiple charges, including simple assault, DUI, felony fleeing and eluding and resisting arrest.
