Fire Report Leads To Discovery Of Group Practicing 'Fire Eating' Without Permits

McKEES ROCKS (KDKA) -- Emergency crews were called to a vacant church in McKees Rocks Tuesday night over reports of a fire.

Neighbors called 911 after reportedly seeing flames inside the building. A second alarm was even called over the incident.

However, when firefighters arrived on scene, officials say instead of finding fire consuming the building, they found a large group of performers practicing something called "fire eating."

The incident happened just before 9 p.m. at a building in the 100-block of Cutler Street.

Officials say the group of about 25 people did not have a permit to practice the activity, which is seen in some circus acts.

No injuries were reported, and there's no word on if there was any damage to the building.

Officials say because the group did not have a permit, they will likely be charged with trespassing.
