Bloomfield Blacksmith Creates Stunning Art From Iron

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A pair of stone pillars and congregation of creative ironworks mark John Walter's blacksmith forge, known as Iron Eden. Lorigan Street in Bloomfield is also the road to Salvation.

John and Jody Walter have salvaged thousands of eclectic collectibles during his 30 years as a blacksmith artist.

"This is our trailer that we've fixed up so that we can transport and sell come of our garden pieces," co-owner Jody Walter said. "People can just climb on the trailer and choose the flower that suits them and take it home, right off the trailer."

These flowers bloom year round and there's a whole lot more inside. The couple intended this as a storage facility.

"As we moved the stuff in, we had more than we ever imagined and decided to open up as a shop," said Jody.

"Salvation" has more than one meaning. The building was once a church.

"Up here on the second floor, we have some of the more lighter weight things. We have lots of furniture, hardware," Jody explained.

When the space runs out on this floor, well, Salvation finds help from above.

"As we sell more things down here, we bring things down," Jody said.

Everything's for sale. Almost. One rocking chair is not for sale. It once was owned by John's father.

There are more where that came from. They have everything but the kitchen sink. Well actually, they have that too.
