Retired Railroad Buffs Create 42-Foot Model Train

WASHINGTON (KDKA) -- Kids are fascinated by model trains. For some, that passion never changes.

A 42-foot display at Washington Crown Center, in Washington County, was created by retired railroad buffs who call themselves "The Train Gang."

"We're a bunch of kids that never grew up," club president Joe Jack explains. "There's about ten of us here. Some of us have collections and others don't, but they enjoy Christmas and entertaining people."

Fifteen trains are in constant motion. And it's not just the O Gauge Lionel train. They also have HO Gauge, N Gauge, and even the little Z Gauge, which you can pack into your suitcase.

Club members will be working on the railroad all the livelong day. Not to mention, all the livelong week - through most of December.

They'll even do their best to fix your own model train.

Though personal repairs and admission are free, Train Gang president Joe Jack says, "We took donations for several charities in town, and everyone shared in the Christmas spirit that way."

It's clear that the Train Gang is on the right track.
