Report: Pa. Woman Gave 4-Year-Old Opiates To 'Help Her Sleep'

CONEWAGO TWP. (KDKA) -- A woman in York County is accused of forcing her 4-year-old daughter to consume opiates.

According to the York Daily Record, 27-year-old April Renee Rose of Conewago Township faces charges of drug possession, endangering the welfare of children and recklessly endangering another person.

Officers got involved when a "suspicious incident" was reported to the York County Office of Children, Youth and Families.

Police say the child's grandmother overheard her daughter say, "take this" to the little girl in a bathroom. When the child said, "no, it's yucky," the mother said, "I don't care take it anyway. It will help you sleep."
