Attorney For Woodland Hills Principal Speaks Out As Protesters Call For His Firing

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The attorney for a Woodland Hills principal allegedly recorded threatening a student is speaking out.

Attorney Phil DiLucente says principal Kevin Murray is being mischaracterized.

A 14-year-old male student at Woodland Hills High School recorded what is said to be the voice of Principal Kevin Murray threatening him as he was being disciplined.

"I'm going to [expletive] punch you in the face. Man-to-man, bro. I don't care if you are [expletive] 14-years-old or not. I will punch you in your face, and when we go down to court, it's your word against mine, and mine wins every time."

DiLucente says the full picture of the recording isn't out there, the tape is not authenticated, but it does sound like Murray.

"I can tell you that there was no intent whatsoever of Mr. Murray to hurt, scare, harass, any child. There was previous actions taken place by others that had Mr. Murray respond."

State law prohibits anyone from recording another without their knowledge, so the boy's recording will not be used against Murray.

Protesters chanted "fire principal Murray" at Monday night's Woodland Hills School Board meeting.

"What do we want - education, what don't we want - incarceration," people shouted.

The 14-year-old student is facing wiretapping charges for recording another school employee in another confrontation.

"It wasn't as if Mr. Murray just walked up to this young man who had allegedly recorded this incident and started to pick on him," DiLucente said.

Murray will not await a decision by the Woodland Hills School District.
