Man Killed In Pleasant Hills Hit & Run, Driver Sought

PLEASANT HILLS (KDKA) -- Police are searching for the driver involved in a hit-and-run accident in Pleasant Hills that left one man dead.

According to Pleasant Hills Police, the accident happened Thursday just before 10 p.m. on Curry Hollow Road and Green Street, near the Walgreens. There's a crosswalk in the street there.

Officers say they found the victim lying in the street after he was apparently struck by a vehicle. He has been identified by officials as 43-year-old David Ruiz of Carnegie.

Ruiz was taken to Jefferson Hospital where he died from his injuries.

The traffic on the stretch of road where it happened is constant, so authorities are hoping that someone may have seen the driver who's responsible. And people who walk that stretch of road hope the person is caught or turns themselves in.

"Around this time of the holidays, I just hope that everyone can do the right thing and come to the understanding of not doing something like that and admitting to their wrong," said Jon Frazier, of Pleasant Hills.

Police say they are investigating the incident as a hit-and-run and are looking for the vehicle and driver involved.

Investigators say the vehicle that they're looking for is believed to be a Jeep Grand Cherokee, model years between 1999 to 2004. The color of the vehicle is not known, but police say it will be missing the passenger side rear view mirror and the antenna.

Also, they say there may be other significant damage to the passenger's side of the vehicle.

Anyone with information on the incident or who was in the area at the time of the accident is being asked to call Allegheny County Police at 412-473-1300.
