Clairton Football Coach Blasts Officiating After Losing State Championship Game

CLAIRTON (KDKA) -- The Clairton football team lost the state championship game this past weekend to Bishop Guilfoyle, and now their head coach Wayne Wade could be in hot water for comments he made after the game.

Wade was not happy about the officiating, and wasn't shy about it

This is what wade said to some media members following the loss.

"If you look at the laundry laid on the field, most of the time it was against us and it happens to us all the time...Then in the fourth quarter it's against the other team to try and even it out. I've been saying this the last three years. It happens to us even when we win and it needs to stop," he wrote.

He wasn't finished. Wade went on to say: "I'm going to keep saying this because I'm not in the NFL. I'm not in college. I can't be fined. So I'm going to keep saying it every chance I get."

The PIAA isn't happy and Wade will face some kind of discipline over the comments, possibly a suspension.

PIAA Executive Director Bob Lombardi heard the comments and told our partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette he thinks it's a violation of the PIAA bylaws.

They will let Clairton investigate the matter first and determine a punishment. If the PIAA is not happy, they will take matters into their own hands and call Wade in for a hearing and issue their own penalties.

This isn't the first time Wade and the Clairton football team caught the eye of the PIAA. Two years ago, Wade had to serve a one game suspension after he lost control of his team at the end of the state championship game. Wade also had to attend sportsmanship classes and the team was placed on a one year probation for that incident.
