Indiana Regional Nurses Reach Tentative Contract Agreement

INDIANA, Pa. (AP) - A union representing registered nurses and anesthetists has reached a tentative contract agreement with the Indiana Regional Medical Center in western Pennsylvania.

The deal struck early Tuesday means the union has called off plans for a walkout on Dec. 23.

The union represents more than 340 nurses and anesthetists who have been working without a contract since October 2015.

The new contract calls for a 4 percent raise when the contract is ratified, and a 1.5 percent raise in 2018. The contract will run through Oct. 31, 2018 if it's ratified by the union on Thursday.

The union had been concerned about a contract provision they said would have tripled health insurance contribution for part-time nurses. The tentative deal calls for a shared 10-percent co-premium for full-time and part-time nurses.
