Man Gets 18 Months In Jail For Killing, Torturing Cats

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - A South Charleston man will spend 18 months behind bars for killing, dismembering and torturing several cats.

News outlets report that Wayne Nelson Mallory received the maximum sentence after pleading guilty this week to three counts of animal cruelty.

Mallory was arrested earlier this month after officials with the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association said he stabbed, stomped and abused four cats.

Three cats rescued from Mallory's home were still alive, but one was dead. The surviving cats are now being cared for by the organization.
