Fire Marshal Probing Separate Blazes In Bridgeville, Stowe Twp.

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Two house fires Thursday night are now under investigation by Allegheny County Fire Marshal.

On McLaughlin Run Road in Bridgeville, fire heavily damaged the inside of a home, destroying children's medical equipment.

Homeowner John Sroka said, "We lost everything. My kids are special needs kids; they have no feeding tubes, no nothing. It's hard."

The Sroka family had just left their home for dinner, when the fire erupted.

When John rushed back, he ran inside to check on two family dogs. Police and firefighters had to run in after him and quickly escorted him back out.

Firefighters were able to find the two dogs. Both were okay.

"I was worried about my two dogs more than anything," Sroka said. "Other than that, nothing has meaning."

In Stowe Township, a fire ripped through a house on Woodward Street, leaving a family of five homeless. Two family dogs perished, but a third was saved.

Neighbor Tina Otey said, "I seen the firemen carrying a dog out. They gave him oxygen right there on the sidewalk."

Stowe Township Fire Chief David Gallagher said there were flames on "all three floors simultaneously when firemen arrived on the scene."

Chief Gallagher said one firefighter was treated at UPMC Mercy Hospital for smoke inhalation.
