1 In Custody Following Swissvale Police Chase

SWISSVALE (KDKA) --- Police took one man into custody following a pursuit early Friday morning.

According to police, the incident began around 1:30 a.m. when officers noticed a Chevrolet Tahoe parked on the sidewalk near the corner of Atwood Street and Forbes Avenue.

When officers approached the still-running vehicle, the found the driver passed out in a fully reclined seat. He has since been identified as 45-year-old Anthony Scott.

Officers knocked on the window and told the driver to turn off the vehicle. After being told this multiple times, Scott put the vehicle in gear and narrowly missed hitting two police officers.

A chase began on Forbes Avenue through Squirrel Hill and eventually came to an end at the intersection with Peebles Street.

Scott ran from the scene and was arrested a short time later.

The suspect's SUV was towed away from the scene.
