Police Investigating Duquesne Double Shooting

DUQUESNE (KDKA) – Police are investigating after two people were injured in a Duquesne shooting overnight.

According to police, the incident happened near the Kansaz City Saloon on Route 837 just before 2 a.m.

Allegheny County police say two men, ages 21 and 24, were shot. One of the men was listed in critical condition, but both are expected to survive.

"It was a lot of running back and forth from that building and I heard a young lady yelling, 'That's my brother, that's my brother,'" Charlene Carter said.

Carter, who is visiting her sister from Florida, heard the early morning gunshots.

"I heard yelling and maybe about six gunshots," she said.

Allegheny County police say officers were called to the area near the Kansaz City Saloon for the report of shots fired. That's just across the street from the Superior Car Wash. When a KDKA-TV photographer arrived overnight, most of the police activity was in the area of the car wash. The gunfire extended beyond the area, traveling at least 100 yards down the street and shattering the front glass of someone's home.

"It was really shocking that it kind of lodged in the glass," said Lauren Schricker, as she pointed to the bullet that shattered her double-paned front window. She'd just arrived at home before the shooting happened.

"I came home like 5-10 minutes before this happened," Schricker said. "I'm just happy I was inside the house, not out there by my car."

She didn't recognize the sound of the gunshots.

"I heard maybe like six or eight loud bangs and it was kind of a warm night and I thought maybe people were out like doing fireworks or something. Then, I heard people arguing," she said. "I would never expect anything like this to happen."

Police have not named any suspects in the case. Anyone with information should call the Allegheny County Police Department.
