Police Investigating Apparent Murder-Suicide In Turtle Creek

TURTLE CREEK (KDKA) – Allegheny County police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide that happened Tuesday morning in Turtle Creek.

Officers went to the apartment after family members called 911.

The bodies of the man and woman, identified by officials as 43-year-old Daniel Connelly and 34-year-old Sarah Villarreal, were in a bed upstairs in an apartment in the 100 block of Walnut Street. Police believe the man who lived at the apartment, shot the woman, then shot himself.

Neighbors in the Electric Heights Apartments stood outside while detectives talked to people who lived nearby and investigators removed evidence from the apartment.

"No, I didn't hear nothing. My bedroom window was open too," said Dan Patalsky, who's lived in the area for 51 years.

Patalsky says nothing like this has ever happened there before.

"Scared everybody," Patalsky added.

About the man who lived in apartment 124-F, Patalsky said, "I know him I see him driving around. This is a circle drive, just if he drives passed, I wave."

Police won't detail the relationship between the man and the woman, nor the type of gun that was used in the shooting. They believe it happened around 5 a.m.

"We know through different sources that it probably happened about five o'clock this morning," said Allegheny County Lt. Andrew Schurman.

"Both were pronounced dead at the scene," said Schurman. "At this juncture, we have no reason to believe that there was a third party involved."

The Turtle Creek police chief says his officers have been called to this apartment before, but never for a circumstance like this one.
