In Clairton, high school football star Tyler Boyd was presented with a U.S. Army All-American Bowl game jersey on Monday. He is the first player from Clairton High School to ever make the game.

Local Student Selected To Be In U.S. Army All-American Marching Band

A local high school student is one of only 125 in the country to be selected to be in this year’s U.S. Army All-American Marching Band. There was a special ceremony for him at his school on Monday.

Fans Cheer On Bears As Clairton Sets Pa. High School Record

Heinz Field. Playoffs. Tiny Clairton takes aim at their fifth straight WPIAL title, and a Pennsylvania high school record: 60 consecutive victories. More than half the boys in the senior class play for the Bears.

PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) — In their season opener against Upper St. Clair, the Wolverines dropped the ball, in a metaphorical sense. In the rematch Friday, the Panthers dropped the ball, in the literal sense, and Woodland Hills took full advantage.

High School Basketball: Shaler Vs. Hampton

Two of the top scorers in the WPIAL squared off Friday night in Allison Park as Hampton hosted Shaler in Section 3 boys basketball action. Ryan Luther, a 6’8” junior forward, paced the Talbots with 23 points, and twin brother Collin Luther added 19. Shaler’s Geno Thorpe knocked in 20 for the Shaler Titans who were outscored 20-7 in the 4th quarter of the 56-38 loss to Hampton.

Wayne High School Wins Championship

Wayne High School won its second consecutive Class AA WVSSAC football championship to put a cap on an undefeated season. The Pioneers scored on their first possession at Wheeling Island Stadium and cruised to a 35-0 shut-out of Keyser. The Golden Tornadoes offense averaged 40 points a game, but the Pioneers limited them to just 92 yards of total offense and finished 14-0. Brandon Spurlock ran for 144 yards on 13 carries, scored three touchdowns, and was named the game’s most valuable player.

High School Highlights: North Allegheny Vs. Seneca

North Allegheny steamrolled into the WPIAL Class AAAA football championship by running over Seneca Valley for the second time this season. The Tigers scored on their first play from scrimmage and built a 30-point lead before halftime. North Allegheny won by a final score of 47-17. The Tigers will take on Woodland Hills at Heinz Field for the Class AAAA title.

High School Highlights: West Mifflin Vs. Central Valley

West Mifflin and Central Valley went toe-to-toe for 48 minutes Friday, Nov. 16, but it was not enough in the WPIAL Class AAA semi-finals at North Allegheny. The game was tied 28-28 after four quarters before Central Valley scored a touchdown and successfully kicked an extra point in the first overtime period. West Mifflin needed little time to answer on its possession. Quarterback Derrick Fulmore scored on a a 10-yard run, then ran for the two-point conversion as West Mifflin won 36-35 in overtime. The victory pushed the Tigers into the WPIAL Class AAA championship game at Heinz Field.

High School Highlights: Seneca Vs. Mt. Lebanon

Seneca Valley controlled the time of possession and bottled up Mt. Lebanon’s WPIAL top passer Tyler Roth on the way to a 32-13 WPIAL Class AAAA quarterfinal victory at North Allegheny High School Friday night in Wexford. The Raiders Jordan Brown threw three touchdown passes, while teammate Forrest Barnes ran for 141 yards and a touchdown in the victory. The win sets up a re-match between North Allegheny and Seneca Valley in the WPIAL semi-finals next weekend.
