Area Parades, Ceremonies Mark Memorial Day

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Memorial Day marks the unofficial start to the summer; so for many people, it has become synonymous with picnics and parties; but the holiday obviously means much more than that as we pause to pay tribute to our service men and women. This Memorial Day weekend, a number of communities across the region will honor our vets with parades, ceremonies and religious services. Here is a small sampling of what's taking place around the area.

BEAVER
Event: Beaver Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony
Location: Beaver Business District, parade starting Third and Beaver Streets.
Date: Monday, May 30, 2011

Description: Parade including veterans, Beaver Area High School Band, members of the World War II Tuskegee Airmen, and re-enactor groups. Proceeds along Third St. to Beaver Cemetery, concluding with a formal ceremony honoring military veterans. Sponsored by Beaver Area Heritage Foundation

Event: Bethel Park Memorial Day Ceremony and Parade
