For many area families, driving around to check out all the holiday decorations is a tradition that adds to the magic of the season. While a number of area neighborhoods could give Clark Griswald a run for his money, there are a few professional holiday light displays around the Pittsburgh area that are sure to put some extra sparkle into your family's celebration!

Hours: Sunday through Thursday until 10 p.m.; Friday & Saturday until 11 p.m.
Cost: A per car donation is requested and is valid for the entire festival season. Visitors making a $20 donation will receive a DVD of the Festival of Lights and Oglebay story.

It may be 60-miles from Pittsburgh, but the Oglebay Winter Festival of Lights in Wheeling, West Virginia is a must-see for those who love the twinkling lights of the season!  The Winter Festival of Lights covers more than 300-acres of the popular resort's grounds. Even if you've seen it before, Oglebay is worth another trip. Each year, the crew adds something new "to keep the snow fresh!" Oglebay even offers special overnight packages where visitors can enjoy the Winter Festival of Lights and then give themselves a little holiday treat with unlimited use of the resort's sauna, Jacuzzi and indoor swimming pool! Closer to Christmas, guests can even enjoy breakfast with Santa!

For more than 50 years, Overly's Country Christmas has been one of the area's annual holiday traditions. Since its humble beginnings of just a few lights on a few trees, Overly's now features more than 2 million lights across 15 acres and has gained national recognition. Good Housekeeping Magazine once named it one of "America's Best Outdoor Light Displays!" The impressive display even comes complete with a 5-acre Christmas Village that visitors can actually walk through, a life-sized Nativity scene with live animals and even the largest G-gauge model train display. Santa also makes appearances leading up to Christmas for pictures and some last minute list-taking! In the holiday spirit of giving, proceeds from the event go to help charity.

Every year, the woods at Hartwood Acres in Indiana Township come alive with color during the annual Celebration of Lights. A tradition for area families for nearly 20 years, the display is sure to bring holiday cheer with more than 2-million lights along the 3-mile path. Weather-permitting, visitors can drive through the Celebration of Lights every evening – including holidays -- starting at 6pm from November 19th through the New Year. Proceeds benefit local charities.
