Joe DeStio started in radio at the campus station at the University of Pittsburgh and never looked back.
After getting his Masters Degree at the Newhouse School at Syracuse University, he worked in radio news at stations in Massachusetts, Pittsburgh, and Washington, D.C. before returning to Pittsburgh radio in 1988. He also covered sports for 10 years for ESPN Radio.
Joe teaches broadcast journalism at Point Park University, is a member of the National Association of Realtors, and can be heard as the public address announcer at Pitt football and basketball games.
He met his wife, Sue, while at Pitt. They have two children who graduated from Penn State. Joe says kids have to make their own mistakes.
