Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl made headlines early in his administration after he met PGA golfer Tiger Woods at Oakmont Country Club back in 2007. The controversy was the notion that he “crashed” a private American Express event. Ravenstahl was reportedly told he was not invited to attend, but showed up at the club anyway. A video produced by Am-Ex confirmed the mayor’s presence at the event. The mayor’s office said at the time it was a lifelong dream to meet Woods and that the club was not upset by the mayor’s conduct. Oakmont Country Club wouldn’t comment on the matter.
