Court Papers Say There Were Concerns About Zoo’s African Painted Dogs Exhibit

A Pittsburgh Zoo safety committee had concerns about a wild African dogs exhibit but the zoo didn’t make any changes before a 2-year-old boy fell into the pen last year and was mauled to death by the animals, his parents’ lawyers say in court filings that cite committee meeting minutes.

Zoo To Reopen After Boy’s Death In African Painted Dogs Exhibit

Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium reopens its doors Tuesday morning for the first time since late Sunday morning when a 2-year-old boy fell into an animal exhibit and was mauled by a wild pack of dogs.

Zoo Officials Consider Future Of African Painted Dogs Exhibit

The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium was inspected over the summer and accredited by a national organization in September. But inspectors will now be back, in light of the accident that left a little boy dead over the weekend. It’s a step that’s required. Meanwhile, zoo officials are considering the future of the exhibit.
