(93-7 The FAN) — The Pirates lost to Houston, 1-0, Friday night, managing just four hits.
The Pirates started out strong, but a sixth inning meltdown by Charlie Morton contributed to the team’s 8-2 loss to the Houston Astros.
Jeff Karstens pitched three-hit ball into the seventh inning and five relievers finished the four-hitter, leading the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 1-0 victory over the Houston Astros on Tuesday night.
Charlie Morton took a shutout into the eighth inning Saturday, and unlike last night with Paul Maholm, the Pirates bats gave their pitcher enough support for a win at PNC Park. Lyle Overbay added his first home run at home this season and Andrew McCutchen had a two-run double in the 6-1 victory over the Houston Astros.
