Bus Rapid Transit
Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald and Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto took a tour Wednesday of some of the places a so-called BRT, or Bus Rapid Transit line, could run in Pittsburgh.
It operates a lot like light rail. The doors open on either the left or the right, and the platforms are at door-level.
It is not something you hear very often in Pittsburgh, but Cleveland has something out city could use.
Pittsburgh is one of four cities getting a special grant from the Rockefeller Foundation. It’s aimed at bringing faster bus service between two parts of the city.
