Cameron McLay will take the reins of a police bureau in crisis, rocked by scandal that sent the last chief to jail, and suffering from strained community relations and a rising homicide rate.
Deputy Pittsburgh Police Chief Paul Donaldson sent out a memo Thursday telling officers that the department would conduct a study on the “reliability and suitability” of city-issued ammunition used by officers in their service revolvers.
Two alleged cases of police brutality are now under review by the Pittsburgh Office of Municipal Investigation. And, at least one of them has also caught the attention of the FBI.
